Counselling & Psychotherapy

Whilst counselling and psychotherapy are often considered the same, or very similar, in general, counselling is usually short term (6-20 sessions) and issue specific (ie grief counselling or relationship counselling), where as psychotherapy tends to take place over a longer period of time and can cover a wide range of issues, which can often include a general dissatisfaction with life or a desire to understand oneself better or on a deeper level.

During your initial consultation we will discuss your needs and your goals, and devise a treatment plan that is individualised to you. This may include using different models of therapy at different stages of your therapy, depending on your specific needs and on what models of therapy provide  the best evidence-based results for a particular issue.

The models of therapy provided by KC Quigley Therapy include:

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT)

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)

Gestalt Therapy

Transactional Analysis (TA)

These models can be used either as stand alone models or integrated into treatment plans at various stages of the therapy.

Hypnotherapy is a simple and safe treatment that have been proven to be very effective in treating certain issues. It is usually provided over a shorter period than counselling and psychotherapy (4-6 sessions) and can be utilised to treat issues such as breaking habits, including smoking, weight loss and management, stress, anxiety, self-esteem and confidence, fears & phobias, limiting beliefs, public speaking and performance anxiety.

Despite what stage hypnotists and films would make you think, hypnosis is not mind control and it cannot make you do anything that you do not want to do. It is actually a natural process and the hypnotic trance is something we’ve all experienced in our daily lives. During the process you are alert and in control at all times, whilst being in a state of total relaxation.

Hypnosis works by directly instilling new thoughts into the subconscious mind, where all our habits and beliefs reside, thereby allowing us to upgrade out-dated habits and beliefs to ones we now desire.
